The West Texas A&M men’s basketball program has announced the 2021-22 schedule, highlighted by the D2CCA Tipoff Classic and 19 regular season home contests at the First United Bank Center.
Buffs head coach Tom Brown enters his eighth year at the helm of the men’s team that has made appearances in the last four NCAA Tournaments, including the National Championship game last season.
Under Brown, WT tips off the season hosting the famed D2CCA Tip Off Classic at the FUBC on October 29-31, featuring four programs from last season’s NCAA Tournament. The Buffs will take on Colorado Mesa on October 29 followed by a matchup with Minnesota State Moorhead on October 30. WT will close the round-robin tournament schedule against National Quarterfinalist Daemen on October 31.
The Buffs continue their five-game home stand as they welcome Western Colorado for the South Central Regional Challenge on November 12-14. WT hits the road on November 18 to continue their non-conference schedule with a matchup against Lubbock Christian before returning home to take on Midwestern State (Nov. 22).
Oklahoma Baptist, Southwestern Oklahoma State and Eastern New Mexico come to Canyon for the Pak-A-Sak Thanksgiving Classic on November 26-27 followed by in-region non-conference contests at Eastern New Mexico (Dec. 2) and at home against Western New Mexico (Dec. 4).
WT will host a Community Game against Champions College on December 13 before setting out to Las Vegas, Nevada for the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic with matchups against Montana State-Billings and Lindenwood (Dec. 17-18).
Lone Star Conference action begins on Friday, Dec. 31 in Fort Smith, Arkansas against UAFS followed by an outing at Oklahoma Christian (Jan. 2) followed by games at home against Texas A&M-Commerce (Jan. 6) and UT Tyler (Jan. 8).
The Buffs take a road trip down to St. Edward’s (Jan. 13) and St. Mary’s (Jan. 15) before Angelo State (Jan. 20) and UT Permian Basin (Jan. 22) come to Canyon followed matchups at Midwestern State and DBU on January 27 and 29.
A game in Lawton, Oklahoma against Cameron on February 3 wraps-up the Buffs non-conference schedule before a three-game homestand against Lubbock Christian (Feb. 10), Eastern New Mexico (Feb. 12) and Cameron (Feb. 15). WT heads to Western New Mexico on February 19 for its final road trip before closing the regular season at home against Texas A&M-Kingsville (Feb. 24) and Texas A&M International (Feb. 26).
The Lone Star Conference Championship will take place on March 3-6 at a site to be determined followed by the NCAA South Central Regional Championships (March 12-15) and the NCAA Elite Eight at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind.
