The New Mexico State women’s basketball team has signed UNLV transfer Melanie Isbell, head coach Brooke Atkinson announced on Thursday.
“We are so excited to welcome Melanie to the Aggie family,” Atkinson said. “She is a proven winner and champion as she played for one of the best high school programs in the nation and made an immediate impact on the court at UNLV. Melanie is a floor general with a relentless motor who will be a great addition to our program.”
The Las Vegas, Nev., product played in 30 games for UNLV as a freshman during the 2019-20 season. She finished the year with 133 points, 57 rebounds, 21 steals and scored a career-high 13 points at Colorado State on Feb. 19.
Coming out of Centennial High School, Isbell was a highly touted recruit. She was a two-time All-State and All-Division selection and was the 27th ranked point guard by ESPN. Isbell was also a McDonald’s All-American nominee.
