After a season where they made it all the way to the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament, the Aggie women’s basketball team has reloaded with six new signees, making up the 2021 recruiting class.
Cameron head coach Emma Andrews and her staff has announced the signing of six student-athletes that will be a part of the 2021-22 women’s basketball team that will be looking to repeat the success that they had this past season. The class includes a trio of transfers and three true freshmen that can all contribute right away for CU.
“Our signing class is full of high academic and high character kids,” said Andrews of her future Aggies. “They all have great basketball IQ and high motors, which will work well with our current system. This is the biggest recruiting class we have had as a staff and this group has so much talent and drive amongst them. I am so excited to have all six athletes and their families as part of the Cameron program.”
The 2021 class is made up of local product and prolific high school scorer Chelsea Lazenby, Louisiana Tech and Sulphur, Okla. native Korie Allensworth, Oklahoma Baptist transfer and Kingfisher HS graduate Jenni Beebe, San Saba, Texas guard Courtnee Cash, Jarrell HS standout Macey Taber, and spark plug Aussie guard Alannah Gillespie.
Cameron’s new six players join an Aggie squad that returns a pair of All-Lone Star Conference and All-Academic guards in Maighan Hedge and Stephanie Peterson as well as LSC All-Freshman team selection Katie King and Honorable Mention All-LSC forward Whitney Outon.
The Aggie women’s basketball scheduled is set to return as normal in November, with details, dates, times, and opponents to be released later this summer.
