The New Orleans women’s basketball program announced the program’s final signee of the 2020 class in Aalia Carlson of Zionsville High School, made official by head coach Keeshawn Davenport on Monday.
“I am excited about the caboose of the 2020 class,” Davenport said. “She is bringing up the rear but certainly there is a lot to admire about Aalia.”
“She is a combo guard that adds firepower to our guard play,” Davenport added. “I’m excited about the deep range, how she can get to the basket at will and how she creates for others. Not only is she an outstanding athlete, she’s an outstanding student-athlete. I love her drive and passion and her will to get it done both off the court and on the court. We welcome Aalia with wide open arms to NOLA’s team.”
Carlson is a 5’7″ guard who just wrapped up her senior season at Zionsville High School in Zionsville, Indiana under head coach Andy Maguire. She helped the Eagles advance to the sectional playoffs and has been a member of the varsity team for all four years of her high school career.
The scouting report on the Montclair, New Jersey, native includes an accurate shot, great ball handling and passing skills with both hands, quick feet and a long wingspan to become a lockdown defender to go with above-average court vision and play-making ability.
Carlson is the last signee of the 2020 class that includes spring singings Tiana Gibson, Erin Randle, Zoe Cooper, Caleigh-Rose West and Bri Ellis, mid-year transfer Abigail Johnson and fall signees Ericca Richardson, Kyla Davis and Zanaa Cordis.
