Texas Tech announced the addition of a graduate transfer from Alabama as the newest member of the Red Raiders 2020 signing class on Friday.
Chadarius Townsend was a 4-star recruit out of Tanner, Ala. in 2017 and was ranked as the No. 5 athlete in the nation, No. 7 player in Alabama and the No. 175 overall player according to 247sports.
Townsend was multidimensional during his three seasons with the Crimson Tide as he spent time with the running backs, wide receivers and defensive backs.
He is expected to compete at running back for the Red Raiders.
Townsend appeared in 17 games for Alabama including five games in 2019 mainly as a special teams player and reserve running back.
Townsend has already graduated from Alabama and will be eligible to play for the Red Raiders immediately.
