Rian Gamble, a speedy outfielder who starred the past two softball seasons for Rose State in Midwest City, will continue her collegiate career at Oklahoma Christian, OC coach Shalee Rodriguez said Monday.
Gamble, from Shawnee, hit .452 with three home runs, 34 RBIs, 44 runs scored and 48 stolen bases last season for Rose State, which finished 26-20. She was named to the National Junior College Athletic Association Region II All-Region first-team honor list after leading the region in stolen bases and finishing 10th in batting average.
During the 2020 season, which was abbreviated due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gamble hit .449 with one home run, eight RBIs, 22 runs scored and 11 stolen bases.
“Rian was a super player at Rose State,” Rodriguez said. “She is another lefty hitter to add to our lefty dominant lineup, with great speed and a threat on the bases. She can do it all in the box and will be a great addition to our lineup. She brings competition to our outfield with her speed and strong arm. We are very excited to add Rian to our roster.”
Before playing for Rose State, Gamble attended Bethel High School, where she hit .475 as a senior. She played club softball for Oklahoma Backwoods Trippin’.
Gamble is one of seven newcomers on the OC roster for the 2022 season. They’ll join a team coming off a 38-9 season during which the Eagles rose to No. 4 in the NCAA Division II coaches’ poll and earned a No. 1 seed in the South Central Region tournament.
