MSU secures a spot in the LSC tournament

Two teams fighting to secure a spot in the Lone Star Conference tournament next week met inside D.L. Ligon Coliseum on Thursday.

Led by their senior leadership, Midwestern State secured a 69-57 win over Arkansas-Fort Smith and at least one game in the conference tournament.

The Mustangs are locked into the tenth seed, following Texas A&M International defeating Cameron on Thursday. MSU knows it will be on the road in the opening round next Tuesday. However, its opponent remains a mystery, with the top seven teams in the LSC entering the night within one game in the standings.

Hannah Reynolds totaled a double-double with 21 points and ten rebounds, while fellow senior Morgan Lenahan added 18 points for the Mustangs. Sophomore Frances King scored nine points to finish with a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds in the fourth quarter.

UAFS was led by Mar’Shalia Lollie, who scored 20 points while Paige Elston added 15 points and Dachelle Terry chipped in ten points.

MSU is scheduled to close out the regular season at 2 p.m. Saturday at home against Oklahoma Christian. The Mustangs seniors will be honored following the game.
