MSOC: TAMIU announces addition of transfer from fellow LSC school

Texas A&M International University Head Men’s Soccer Coach Claudio Arias announced the signing of Lucas Vaz for the 2021 class.

Vaz is the first announced addition to the 2021 class and will begin his journey with TAMIU in the fall.

A Sao Paulo, Brazil native, Vaz joins the Dustdevils after playing his previous two years at Eastern New Mexico. During his time as a Greyhound, Vaz put together two solid seasons that totaled eight goals and three assists. In 2018, he was tied for 2nd on the team in goals (6) and assists (2), while finishing 3rd on the team in points (14), shots (42) and shots on goal (17).

Prior to Eastern New Mexico, Vaz began his collegiate career at Monroe College in 2016, where he appeared in 12 games and tallied one goal and three assists for the NJCAA Runners-Up.

Before coming to the states, Vaz attended Prof. Emydgio de barros in his native Brazil, playing seven seasons for Sao Paulo F.C., two seasons for A.A Ponte Preta and one season with S.E Palmeiras.

Vaz brings championship experience to the Dustdevils, having won titles with the Brazilian Cup U-17 team, Paulista Championship U-15 team, Ajax Cup U-17 team and the U-16 Nike Cup team.
