MSOC: Ozarks claims first ASC title in 18 years


ABILENE, Texas – Ozarks captured the American Southwest Conference Men’s Soccer Championship for the second time with a 3-1 victory against Concordia Texas at the HSU Soccer Complex Saturday night.

The Eagles also won the title in 2003.

Ozarks (7-4-1) got on the board first with a Charleus Emmanuel Ritch goal, assisted by Truman Hensley in the 15th minute. The Tornados (7-3) evened the battle when Marco Vazquez drilled a penalty kick in the 34th minute.

In the second period, Alain Claude netted his fourth goal of the season in the 57th minute and Lorfils Milord added an insurance goal with just over three minutes remaining in regulation.

Ozarks senior keeper Logan Valestin recorded one save, while CTX keeper Joshua Redding had two.

The Tornados outshot the Eagles 14-7 overall, but UO held a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Ozarks senior midfielder Drew Mott was named tournament Most Valuable Player.
