West Texas A&M head men’s basketball coach Tom Brown has announced the signing of Larry Wise.

Wise, a 6-foot-4 guard out of Waxahachie, signs with the Buffs after spending three seasons at the University of North Texas under head coach Grant McCasland.

During his time in Denton, Wise appeared in 14 games a sophomore in 2019-20 averaging 5.8 minutes per contest before suffering a season-ending injury. He also played in four games this past season for a Mean Green team that made it to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament.

“Larry is a player that we had the chance to see in high school. We really wanted him then and are excited to be able to have him now,” Brown said. “Larry should be able to play multiple positions for us next year. We are very excited to be able to coach Larry the next few years.”

During his prep career at Waxahachie High School, Wise was ranked as a three-star recruit by Rivals after averaging 18 points per game as a senior. He along with former Buff Qua Grant led the Indians to the District 10-5A title while also picking up First Team All-Region and All-State accolades.
