West Texas A&M head men’s basketball coach Tom Brown has announced the third member of the Buffs’ 2021 recruiting class with the signing of Julius Brown.
Brown, a 5-foot-11 guard from Westerville, Ohio, signs with the four-time defending Lone Star Conference Tournament Champions after spending three seasons at Lincoln Memorial.
During his time as a Railsplitter, Brown appeared in 81 games including 29 starts averaging 8.3 points per game shooting 46.9 percent from the floor, 39.9 percent from 3-point range and 80.0 percent from the free throw line. In 2020-21, he started in all 23 games scoring a career-best 10.3 points per game on a Julius Brown VerticalLMU team that finished 19-4 including a trip the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.
“Our staff has had a chance to watch JuJu in person the past couple of years at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic and at the Eight Eight this year. He was very good against Colorado School of Mines and our squad in the Final Four,” Brown sad. “He is a fantastic defensive player on the ball and help side. He really understands the game and is a winner. Offensively, he shoots it very well and can get to the basket and finish. We are very excited to have him in our program. He will excel and only expand his game at WT!”
Brown was rated as the 27th-ranked player in Ohio according to MaxPreps coming out of Westerville North High School in 2018. As a senior, he led his team to the outright OCC-Buckeye Division title, their first league championship since 2013.
