The Angelo State men’s basketball team announced the signing of Chris Boekhorst for the upcoming 2021-22 season.
A 6-10 forward from Saltillo, Texas, Boekhorst comes to ASU after a successful high school career. A three-time District MVP at Saltillo High, Boekhorst averaged 22.9 points per game aldong with 14.5 rebounds. He added four assists and 4.8 blocker per game for his career.
“Our program is really excited about signing Chris,” said Head Coach Cinco Boone. “I recruited his high school coach, Casey Riddle, to Hardin Simmons University years ago and last summer Casey called and told us about Chris. Chris came to our elite camp last summer where he really impressed us and he has been on our radar all season. Chris’s upside is through the roof as he is a 6’10 very skilled offensive player. He shoots the 3 ball well, he has game around the basket, can penetrate on the bounce, and is a great passer for his size. He also provides a lot of length around the basket defensively. He is a good student in the classroom as well and he is a tremendous teammate. We look forward to watching Chris during his career here at ASU.”
Boekhorst finished his high school career with a 56.5 field goal percentage while going 79.8 percent from the free throw line. He earned All-Region his sophomore, junior and senior seasons and was named All-State this last season.
