Dallas Baptist standout Chandler Jacobs earned Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week while Qua Grant of West Texas A&M was named Defensive Player of the Week after recording a triple-double.

Chandler Jacobs averaged 23.0 points per game in two games at No. 3 West Texas A&M and helped lift the No. 21 Patriots to a dramatic comeback win on Saturday with his second double-double of the year, scoring a team-best 24 points and grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds. Trailing by as many as 22 points, Jacobs helped to ignite a come-from-behind win that snapped WT’s nation-leading 45-game home win streak. In the win, Jacobs connected on 10-of-15 shots from the field and went 3-of-6 from three-point range. For the week, Jacobs averaged a double-double and while shooting 62 percent from the floor, including 5-of-11 from beyond the arc, and pulling down 10 rebounds per game.

Qua Grant continued to fill the stat sheet for the Buffs as he averaged 18.3 points and nine rebounds in three games including his first career-triple double. The Waxahachie native became just the second Division II men’s basketball player this season to record a triple-double with his 17-point, 10-rebound and 10-assist performance against Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday. He followed that up with 13 points and six rebounds in Friday’s 84-71 win over No. 21 DBU where the Buffs held the Patriots to a season-low in points and three 3-pointers. Grant finished the weekend with his second double-double of the season, 25 points, 11 rebounds in Saturday’s loss to DBU.
