WICHITA FALLS, Texas — Midwestern State faced a mountain of opposition with Angelo State’s sizable inside presence Saturday night at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Fortunately for Jermane Carter, he has a very tall coach. And that made all the difference in the world as the 6-7, 190-pound forward from Mount Laurel, N.J. delivered a monster performance setting career highs with 25 points and 14 rebounds leading the Mustangs to a huge 84-75 Lone Star Conference West Division win over Angelo State.
West Texas A&M 103, Cameron 50
LAWTON, Okla. – After narrowly escaping with a victory last night, No. 4 West Texas A&M blew out Cameron, 103-50, on Saturday afternoon in Lawton, Okla. With the victory, WT improves to 11-1 on the season and 9-1 in Lone Star Conference play.
The 53-point victory was there largest against a Division II opponent since a 56-pont victory over Western Colorado last season. All 11 Buffs scored led by 17 from Joel Murray as the junior went 6-of-11 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. Hayden Blankley and Cameron Bell had career nights as they combined for 28 off the bench.
