Mike Raynor has been hired by the Lone Star Conference to serve as the Softball Coordinator of Officials, the league office announced Wednesday.
As Coordinator of Officials, Raynor will be responsible for the recruitment, training, evaluation, and assignment of softball officials for all games hosted by the LSC’s 16 softball teams.
“I am very pleased and excited about the opportunity to coordinate and assign softball officials for the Lone Star Conference,” said Raynor. “The conference fits well into the footprint and geography that I currently manage, and it allows for even more uniform and consistent umpire development as our game continues to grow and change. I look forward to working with the universities and coaches in the conference, as well as the administrators, support staffs, and various umpires.”
Raynor has 40 years of experience in the administration, coaching and officiating capacities at every level of competition. The Georgia native currently serves as the Softball Coordinator of Officials for the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big East Conference, Conference USA, Southland Conference, Big South Conference, and the Ivy League.
“We’re happy to have someone with Mike’s experience and expertise in this important position,” said LSC Commissioner Jay Poerner. “With years of success as a coach, official and coordinator at the highest levels, he will be a tremendous asset to the LSC.”
As an NCAA umpire, he has officiated for more than 20 years in the Southeastern Conference, ACC, C-USA, Southern Conference and numerous others.
