Kansas City volleyball adds two players to Roos 2020 signing class

Kansas City Volleyball Head Coach Christi Posey announced two more additions to the 2020 class: De’Janae Arnold of Wichita, Kan., and Odyssey Warren of Kansas City, Mo. Arnold is a transfer from Navarro College (Fla.) and will enter KC as a junior. Warren played as a prep at Lee’s Summit West High School and enters Kansas City with four years of eligibility.

De’Janae Arnold | Middle Blocker | 5-10 | Wichita, Kan. | Navarro College (Fla.) | Wichita Northwest HS

Navarro College (Fla.) (2018-19): 

Helped lead the Bulldogs to a 69-7 two-year record, including a perfect 31-0 record in 2019 and two conference titles… Team won the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national championship last year… AVCA First-Team All-America selection as a sophomore… Named to the national all-tournament team… In championship match, compiled 14 kills and 11 block-assists for her first season double-double… Selected to All-Region XIV First Team… As a sophomore, ranked No. 2 in the junior college ranks with a .473 hit percentage… Also was sixth nationally in blocks-per-set (1.50), 12th in total blocks (152) and 14th in block assists (109)… Finished with 14 matches or 10 or more kills and six matches with eight or more blocks… In 2018, was No. 1 overall nationally in blocks per set (1.49), total blocks (209) and block assists (162).

High School:

At Northwest High School, a two-time all-conference first team member… Also named second-team all-conference as a sophomore… Was a varsity letter-winner all four years in volleyball, basketball and track… Broke the school record in the high jump with a leap of 5-6… Honor roll member all four years… AVID student all four years… Delivered the senior speech at graduation… Competed in club ball for Kansas Elite 18 1’s as a sophomore, the American Fight Club program in her final two years as a prep.


Born Nov. 9, 1999 in Wichita, Kan. … Parents are Deandre Wilson and Lisa Arnold, stepfather Robert Papin … Plans to major in Health Sciences… First sibling in the family to go to college… Has three siblings, Malik, Deandre and Kylai.

Coach Posey: 

“Deja is an explosive athlete with terrific lateral speed. Her willingness to work hard on all facets of the game and her desire to improve each and every day will allow her to contribute early and often. The experience and confidence she gained winning a national championship at Navarro, as well as receiving some individual recognition, has her eyeing a successful run here in Kansas City. We are thrilled she joined our Roo family.”

High School: 

At Lee’s Summit West, was No. 1 in the district in kills as a junior and senior… Named to all-state team twice… Honored on all-district and all-conference teams three different times… Top-four finalist for the Evelyn Gates Award, which is the top female high school award in the Kansas City area… Mo-Kan All Star player… Team Captain… Helped the unit to a 25-5 overall record as a senior… Played for the club program Dynasty 18-Black for two years… Member of Honor Roll all four years… Participant on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.


Born June 24, 2002 in Overland Park, Kan… Parents are Birdsong and Necole Warren… Plans to major in Health Science… Has two brothers, Birdsong and Joseph… Brother, Birdsong, competed in football and track at Baker University; relative, Makayla Warren, played softball at Kansas.

Coach Posey: 

“Odyssey comes to us from her very successful high school program and an elite level club. As a gifted athlete, she was counted on heavily in each of those situations and we’re excited she has chosen to stay in Kansas City and develop even more skills as an outside hitter on our squad. We will train her as a six-rotation attacker to have as great of an impact on Roo Volleyball, we feel, as she has had up to this point in her career.”
