David Orr, Assistant Athletic Director for Recreation and Facilities/Director of Compliance, has been named the Interim AD for Centenary athletics.
Orr takes over following the departure of former AD Marcus Manning who was selected as the new executive director for the Durham Sports Commission in Durham, North Carolina. Manning begins his new position on October 19.
“I want to thank Dr. Holoman for the opportunity to lead the Department of Athletics and Recreation,” said Orr. It has been a pleasure to work under Marcus Manning these past two years. Marcus has improved Centenary Athletics in a variety of ways.”
Orr was in the third year of his role as Assistant AD before the promotion. He was elevated to Assistant AD prior to the 2017-18 campaign after spending the 2014-16 seasons as Head Coach of the Ladies soccer program. Orr also added the title of Title IX Coordinator for the department in 2018. He was a Centenary student-athlete from 1992 to 1996 and served as men’s and women’s soccer coach from 1999 to 2002 and 2008 to 2016.
“I am excited to take on the responsibility of linking the forward momentum of the athletic department to the forward momentum of the College as a whole,” said Orr.
“Centenary Athletics has exceptional student-athletes, led by exceptional Athletic staff. I look forward to working, collaborating and leading together!”
“Centenary College has been my home for many years, and I plan to improve upon the foundations laid.”
