The Belle Volleyball program, coming off a spring campaign that saw them 17-2 and win the Lone Star Conference tournament as well as the AVCA National Championship, retains their spot on top of the AVCA Division II Poll entering the fall season, the organization announced this morning.
The Belles finished the spring season in the top spot after going 5-0 at the national championship tournament in Dallas, where they beat Tampa, who are ranked fifth in the poll, in the final.
The Belles received 22 of 47 first-place votes and 1018 total points, coming in ahead of Concordia – St. Paul, Cal State San Bernadino, Nebraska-Kearney and Tampa to round out the top five.
UT-Tyler, the only other LSC team in the top 25, slot in at #20, while Texas A&M-Kingsville, West Texas A&M and UAFS all received votes as well.
This announcement comes one week after the Belles were picked to repeat as LSC champions in the conference’s preseason poll, and Kailyn Gilbreath was named the conference’s preseason offensive player of the year.
The Belles’ season opens on September 3rd and 4th inside the Junell Center when they will host the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational.
